X THEATER FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE "Mater Terra"

It is with great pleasure that we inform you that the X THEATER FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE "Mater Terra" will be held in the Great Hall and other areas of the Student City Cultural Center  on Friday November 17 and Saturday 18, 2023.

Until October 15, you will be able to register plays, plays in the making, shorter dramatic and dance forms created within drama groups in primary and secondary schools, in drama studios or self-organized. The only condition is that the plays deal with topics from the field of  ecology and ecology of the soul

This year, the accompanying program of the festival will be the symposium "Developing civic activism through creative education" in which CEDEUM is a partner.

More about the festival:

• The festival is conceived as a place of exchange, presentation of the work of drama sections and groups and the possibility of expert advice for all those teachers, teachers, artists and drama pedagogues who, like us, believe that dramatic processes and the theater itself can positively influence personal development, as well as the development of society and the world in which we live.

• The festival is uncompetitive and the idea is to serve as a place for the support and development of drama groups and studios. On the main day of the festival, after each block of performances, discussions are held where the young participants, their teachers and drama pedagogues, the audience, parents, as well as the festival's expert team exchange opinions about the performances, give comments and openly discuss the work processes and the works shown.

• Leaders of drama groups receive a written evaluation from the team of experts, which serves as a guideline in their further work.

All participants of the Festival are recipients of "Ecological stars" , awards for spreading messages of nobility and ecology through theatrical expression, and "Ecological roadmaps" are received by those organizations and individuals who, with their contribution, have enabled the Festival to develop, and who contribute to these areas through their activities in the field of culture, are awarded.

"Ecology of the soul" is a new phrase that for us implies healthy and developed interpersonal relationships, openness and acceptance of the other and different, developing empathy and activating solidarity and support. We insist that the Festival is non-competitive, because we are trying to establish new relationships and small islands of a different and fairer value system that children and young people should familiarize themselves with, and adopt as an alternative to the current prevailing system of competition, buying and selling, apathy and indifference to others and for our nature and the planet in general.”

Since its foundation in 2014, dozens of drama groups and studios have participated in the festival, and the festival was held online in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.
